CustomPC, most trusted of reviewer, have given the ATi HD 4850 a good going over, and the verdict? It’s a proper decent card! I’ve always had a preference for ATi cards, but was ready to go back to an nVidia for the next upgrade, but it’s great to hear this new card is such a neat efficient card.. and given the potential for some Folding on it it’s pretty much a no brainer!

Looks like it will be a little while yet before I go ahead and upgrade our two rigs. After decided to build them both to the same spec, rather than throwing in a few higher end graphical bells into my rig and not Linda’s I though we where all done, and was just awaiting the right time to move some funds about. Now this week AMD/ATi have unleashed their 4800 series of cards, and the outlook from both HEXUS and CustomPC is impressive. It might well be worth holding out for some more third party versions with improved coolers and/or boosted clocks.
