Finally got around to catching up on some demos this last weekend, and one of the stand outs was GRID, the latest in the Race Driver series that started out as TOCA all those years ago. I have to say I was very impressed with the quality of the graphics I could eek out of my ageing rig with this game. Playing at my native resolution on 1280×1024 (I always play games at this resolution, and then tweak to make them playable) the screen moved along with great aplomb whilst giving me some really quite beautiful visuals along the way. I grabbed my self a hand full of screen shots during a couple of the post race replays which you can see below.
My first run though using the keyboard saw me careering off into the walls and barriers with the usual max acceleration, full lock steering that this setup will present you with, even with some of the driver aids in place, however as soon as I got the old PS2 controller working with it it became a joy to play. This could well be a release destined for my hard drive.
